The primary objective of this role is to efficiently maintain Melbourne Airport’s Vehicle & Plant fleet to meet the business’s expectations. This fleet consists of approximately 200 assets, including cars, trucks, tractors, mowing equipment, and Airport-specific machinery.

Responsibilities of the Applicant
The responsibilities and accountabilities of this role encompass, but are not restricted to:
- Undertake all essential measures to diagnose and confirm the proper functioning of vehicles.
- Diagnose and address mechanical issues in various vehicle components, including the engine, transmission, brakes, steering, and suspension systems.
- Promote continuous improvement in asset utilization, life-cycle cost management, and operational efficiencies.
- Offer support to direct leaders and the broader Engineering Group as needed.
- Manage financial aspects, including raising purchase orders and processing invoice receipts.
- Provide insights and recommendations for enhancing preventative maintenance processes.
- Strive to achieve operational efficiencies and enhance overall asset performance.
The successful Applicants will have:
- Mechanical trade certification
- Demonstrated experience as a mechanic, spanning approximately 5-7 years
- Practical experience with a diverse range of mechanical vehicles
- Proficiency in advanced technical skills and diagnostics
- Effective team collaborator with a positive outlook, and a drive to enhance technical expertise
- Dedication to prioritizing safety measures
